Urgent: Medline Bed Recall Notice
Medline Industries, LP has issued an urgent field safety notice covering all Medline brand beds. This includes homecare beds, bariatric beds and their pendants, accessories and replacement parts and bed-containing order packages. All of these items are being discontinued and removed from the market. To report an adverse event you may email

Why was this recall issued?
Immediate Actions:
Electrical Safety and Fire Risk: Under certain condition such as excessive loading, jammed components or motors, damage to or fluid in the hand pendant, use of extension cords or use of non-Medline pendants or accessories- the bed's electrical compnents may overheat. Overheating can progress to smoking, sparking, melting, burning or fire with risk of electrical shock, burns, serious injury or death. Medline has recieved reports of adverse events related to this issue.
1. Unplug the bed, along with any battery packs or batteries connected to the bed or its accessories.
2. Do not use Electrical Functions of the bed. You may continue using the bed with a mattress in manual mode only until the bed is replaced.
3. You may make electrical adjustments only in an emergency (example) chocking or CPR.
4. If the bed is plugged back in for an emergency do not use and exstension cord.
5. If the bed is plugged back in for an emergency, make sure the pendant and power cords are routed and secured.
6. Do not use any bed accessories, including side rails, with any Medline Brand Beds.

Entrapment Risk: Use of any bed acessories (including side rails) with Medline Brand Beds may lead to entrapment. There is a risk of emtrapment or asphyxiation if accessories are used, if a user lies on the pendant, or if the ved is used with loose or wobbly rails. Entrapment may result in serious injury or death. Medline has recieved reports of adverse events related to this issue.
